Leadership Command College Alumni Association College Scholarship Program

The Leadership Command College Alumni Association (LCCAA) is a professional organization of primarily Texas Peace Officers who have successfully completed the Bill Blackwood Leadership & Command College through Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas Women's University in Denton, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. The majority of these officers serve in a supervisory capacity within their respective law enforcement agencies. The LCCAA provides training opportunities to Texas Peace Officers through LCCAA Regional Directors, as well as hosting an annual training conference with innovative speakers. In keeping with the tradition of supporting quality education, the annual LCCAA College Scholarship Program will award at least two separate scholarships of not less than $500 each to high school seniors who are also children, or grandchildren, of LCCAA members in good standing.

 

Selection Criteria

Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following to be considered:

  1. Applicants who reside in the United States must meet one of the following requirements:

    1. Be a legal resident of the United States;
    2. Have been granted permanent residency;
    3. Have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies;
    4. Have been granted temporary protected status along with approved Notice of Action issued by Citizen Immigration Services and verified through CIS Form g-845; OR
    5. Have been granted asylum along with the approved Notice of Action issued by the Citizen Immigration Services.
  2. Applicants must be a high school senior at the time the application is received by the Scholarship review Committee.
  3. Are not receiving, or are not anticipating the receipt of, 100% college tuition reimbursement from other sources.
  4. Applicants must be planning to enroll in a full time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year-college or university.
  5. Applicants must have taken the SAT or ACT and have a final score prior to submission of the application.
  6. Submit acomplete, signed application, together with al supporting documentation by the deadline date listed under the Deadline Date section. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to the applicant.
  7. Submit three letters of recommendation
  8. The recipients of this scholarship wil be selected by the Scholarship Review Committee, which wil consist of at least three representatives from the LCCAA Executive Board.
  9. It is the applicant's responsibility ot submit a complete and signed application and all the supporting documentation in one package, which must be received on or before the deadline as set forth below. The Scholarship Review Commitee accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, lost applications, or any other submission in exception to the above instructions.
  10. Scholarship selection shall be made without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.
  11. The scholarship award wil be based on the Scholarship Review Committee's scores of the overall quality of the application and the scholarship application essay. The higher the average scores, the higher the probability of selection.

 

Deadline Date

A complete application and supporting documentation, if any, must be submitted for review between February 1st and April 1st of each calendar year. Applications, including all supporting documentation, must be received on or before April 1st of each year to be considered for award. Applications received after April 1st will not be considered. No exceptions.


Award Date

The Scholarship Review Committee wil determine the recipients of this scholarship by the award date of May 1st, annually. You wil be notified via email by this date regarding the status of the scholarship. You will receive anotification email, regardless if you were selected as a recipient or not.
